surf the zone securely

hi. i was wondering if it was possible to make the zone bbs secure site to all members.

okay, there needs to be features for premiums, or they won't even bother. but i really thhink that all users do have a rite to privacy and should be alowed to surf the site securely.

the reason why i bort this up, is that some of my friends had just had this site blocked, and they wouldn't have had that problem if they had that extra bit of privacy that we get

your thorts?

and before anyone says, why not look at the premium page? i don't think it's worth the money just for one feature

This is another thing that costs us money to do. Certificates for secure websites aren't free.

My understanding for this is that all they did is give this site a ssl?
If so, how would this get around your blocking problem?
And its not like web based proxies are rare these days.

Go spend 25 dollars, it's not going to kill you, and if It were, I wouldn't stop it...

I don't think there's really a reason to surf this thing securely anyways. It's not like we're asking you to give out personal information, and if you choose to give it out to other users, well, that's all you. the only time we ask for personal info, is when we ask for credit card numbers when you get a premium, and that's through paypal, I think.

mad dog, if you don't think you should surf the zone securely then why set it up?

just a thort

Post 8 by yankee g wolverine (Account disabled) on Saturday, 16-Sep-2006 15:07:27

because premiums want to be able to use the secure site. Stop bitching and spend 25 dollars...

Post 9 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Saturday, 16-Sep-2006 15:14:05

i am premium, so there.

i'm just thinking of people that maybe can't aford it

Post 10 by maddog (I'll have the last word, thank you!) on Saturday, 16-Sep-2006 16:42:51

$25 is really not a big stretch of the wallet. If you can't afford $25, then you really shouldn't have premium membership in the first place. It's honestly not the site administrater's probmem, if someone can't afford a premium membership.

Post 11 by rat (star trek rules!) on Saturday, 16-Sep-2006 17:14:40

why do we have to talk about the price? answer his question. it had nothing to do with the price did it?

Post 12 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Saturday, 16-Sep-2006 17:19:38

no rat. it didon't.

everyone should have a little bit of privacy, i don't care if they are primium or not.

as you said rat, it is not about the price, it is about the rite to privacy

Post 13 by b3n (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Saturday, 16-Sep-2006 17:33:47

Sorry dan, but really if your friends are trying to get this for free coz there schools blocked this site then i don't think you'll get this.
Schools in the uk have a legal requirement to protect students coz of pervs on the internet or something like that, potacually at a bording school like dorton.
Even though you didn't get the answer to the question you asked, i guess you could guess it from your replies.
and anyway, whats to stop you from doing a bit of research? I mean yeah if you school use an invisable proxy then that'd be a bit harder, but really, if all they've done is just put a proxy in your ie settings then whats stopping you from changing that?
BEN.

Post 14 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Saturday, 16-Sep-2006 17:38:55

ben.

i have 2 things to say to you.

firstly, i have left dorton now, so what you have said does not affect me

and secondly, there a lot of users on the site, from amaerica, israil, australia, france, germany and goodness knows where else, who might benifit.

yep, i'm wasting my time, but after all it was only a simple suggestion.

i'd go further with it, but at this precise moment i can't be bothered

dan

Post 15 by rat (star trek rules!) on Saturday, 16-Sep-2006 21:05:01

you aren't wasting your time, this is something i believe should be brought up. I mean, if this site is blocked, the only way to get on is to use the sucure site. what if a standard member gets stuck at a place that blocks the site? there is nothing they can do.

Post 16 by yankee g wolverine (Account disabled) on Saturday, 16-Sep-2006 22:32:36

ahem...
did you even bother to read what a site admin said?
"This is another thing that costs us money to do. Certificates for secure websites aren't free."
if you didn't understand even that, then perhaps you should not even log into the zone. It's stated quite clearly why the site can not be given for free...
thank you, and have a shitty day...

Bla bla bla, quit wining. First if the sites blocked then the secure site will not fix that. Second if your not on your personal computer then should you really be on this site, considering your on a public computer and what you say and do is monitered?

I've been watching this topic offline. But after hearing the whiners, I've got to say one thing:

I actually agree with the Admin, Yankee and The Mask.

Like I said in the topic about wanting invensible feature for all. If you want features like this and the secure site thingy...

Send in $25 bucks and get a premium account.

Geez a loo this is getting a little old. One topic I ca nunderstand but this is the second topic I've watched that asks for premium features to be for freebies who just can't part away with $25.

Now I don't need these features so I don't plan on purchasing a premium. But I know friends who have that account type and like it.

Post 20 by Jess227 on Sunday, 17-Sep-2006 3:39:25

Wait a second........ Now why didn't I see this before?

I see that Rat and Iternity are both premiums.

Can I ask you two a question? Why in gods name are you complaing and now have the account status to use this kind of feature? Can we drop it now that you two got your premiums.

Oh wait, did the Admins give you the account? Did you finally get off your high horse and purchase a premium or did someone else actually do it for you since you refuse to cough up $25?

Curious really....

Post 21 by lights_rage (I just keep on posting!) on Sunday, 17-Sep-2006 3:42:01

you dont have to be a stuck up bitch blindvi. You are a huge fucking snob those two have had payed status for a while they just arent selfish like yourself and care for there friends who cannot afford a membership some arent lucky like you and i

Post 22 by Jess227 on Sunday, 17-Sep-2006 3:50:26

Actually: It's not hard to even go on the net and purchase things. Such things as credit cards, your bank card even Pay Pal. I mean I'm buying something over the net but I only do this if unless necessary. I'm not the type of person who likes to spend on things like this. Sure you're supporting the site. But there are other ways to support a website by refering others to join the site.

In other words, I use my money wisely.

And I do agree with Yankee and The Mask. These posts about making features free is indeed actually taking away from the premium members - those who actually spend the money to have these things. And the Admin is right, certificates for secure sites are not cheap or free for that matter. And why would you go on a public computer and not your own? You know the risks sure but geez I'd rather have my privacy and use this site on my computer. This is why I never came on much when I lived in the motel while the moving van was on its way up here to move our stuff into the new house.

Finally; when I request a feature, I request something that all can use. Remember the customize the zone account with your own colors, font types and html? I requested it for everyone because I felt everyone could make use of the tool. And yes we got a ton of people interested but as long as not one of the admins were interested I dropped it. But I didn't whine and throw a tantrum did I? No I didn't, I was disapointed yes and I liked the way they tried to make things more eye appealing to the site. But thats life and these two people who are premiums shouldn't be throwing a fit just because this feature isn't free and that they had to pay for it. - simple facts really.

Post 23 by lights_rage (I just keep on posting!) on Sunday, 17-Sep-2006 12:16:56

yeah loose everything you own except for maybe six outfits and your dictionary and shit for school and not even near all of it because you have 45 minutes to go in your house safely. I need a coat and cannot afford one because I needed some things for school, I have no pants and no decent shoes. I can walk around and feel the sidewalk quite well through my feet. but you don't see me begging for money because I know one thing if something doesnt kill me it makes mea stronger person and a better person for it. so when christmas comes I am not going to just spend my little bit of money on me I am helping the poor getting them some food and the like. Hell I may do that sooner. I know what its like to go hungry because dad couldn't afford food because he worked in the siding and windows business I know what it is like to eat my pet rabits to survive.

Post 24 by rat (star trek rules!) on Sunday, 17-Sep-2006 14:28:51

who is wining? i'm trying to help people here! yes i'm premium and will be one for as long as i can. that does not mean that i want everything to be premium, i want to help others! what is the harm in that? i mean, you think i'm trying to get these features free, i'm not!

Post 25 by The Roman Battle Mask (Making great use of my Employer's time.) on Monday, 18-Sep-2006 4:59:24

23) If your life is that shitty then maybe you should spend less time on the site and more time improving your lot in life?

Post 26 by yankee g wolverine (Account disabled) on Monday, 18-Sep-2006 16:06:39

agreed, jared

Post 27 by DancingAfterDark (I just keep on posting!) on Tuesday, 19-Sep-2006 4:46:36

This topic seems to have gone completely off in weird directions. Eating your pet rabbits to survive and feeling the sidewalk through your feet? Erm, okay then...agreed, Jared.
